BLESSINGTON GIRL GUIDES AND BROWNIES
The mission of the Irish Girl Guides, to which the Blessington Girl Guides
and the Carrig Brownie Pack are affiliated, is to enable girls and young
women to develop to their fullest potential as responsible citizens of
the world.
Girl Guides: Aged 11-15 yrs.
Blessington Girl Guides was establiched in 2005
The mission of the Irish Girl Guides, to which the Blessington Girl Guides
is affiliated, is to enable girls and young women to develop to their fullest
potential as responsible citizens of the world.

The number of leaders depends on the number of Guides in the Troop – up
to a maximum of 36 Guides and 4 leaders. The Troop is divided into smaller
groups called Patrols with a maximum number of 6 per Patrol.
We currently have 3 leaders and 14 Guides.
We meet each Monday between 8pm and 9.15pm in St. Kevin’s Community
Centre.
The Guides attended the Regional Fun Day Out in Donadea Forest in March
which was enjoyed by all.
The Guides have recently completed their woodworking badge and are working
towards their spruce awards.
We have finished for the Summer now but keep an eye on this spot for
start date in September 2009.

CARRIG BROWNIE PACK
Brownie Guides: Aged 7-11 yrs.
The Carrig Brownie Pack was established over 30 years ago.
The Brownie Guides
meet on a Monday night in St. Kevin’s Community
Centre from 6.30 - 8 pm. We have three adult leaders and two young leaders.
At present we have about 27 Brownies in our troop. Girls must be 6½ years
old by the September in which they hope to join. Their names are taken
from our waiting list.
Like the guides we try to vary the activities at each meeting from crafts,
games, group work and badge work. We do outings to different locations
during the year too.
The Brownies and Guides had a Regional Day Out in Donadea Forest on Saturday
21st March for a fun-filled day of outdoor activities. We had our Thinking
Day Service in St. Mary’s Church on 23rd February led by Rev. Leonard.
Our younger members were enrolled on Monday 6th April. Older Brownies completed
their hostess badge that night. For our summer outing we went to Viking Splash
and Dublinia, the girls really enjoyed this especially scaring people as we
past them on the Viking splash vehicle. We visited the fire station and were
shown around by Paddy Sargent. We had a great time and even got to sit in the
fire engine.
We had a parents v brownies games night to finish off our year which was a
great success enjoyed just as much by the parents as the brownies.
We are closed for the summer and will reopen mid September. We have
3 brownies moving onto guides this year and we wish them well.

FIRST BLESSINGTON LADYBIRDS
Ladybird Guides: Aged 5-7 yrs.
At present we are actively looking for leaders to re-open the Ladybird
unit. The First Blessington Ladybirds opened three years ago and due to
family circumstances three of the leaders had to leave. We have everyting
needed to run the unit and are just missing some responsible adults to help
run the unit. Volunteers desperately needed.
