We are extremely proud to announce that Blessington AFC was recently awarded SDFL Club of the Year for 2009. To be chosen as Number One from over 60 clubs playing in the SDFL is a fantastic achievement and a nice reward for all the hard work being done by all our committee, managers & members. Keep up the good work and we will continue to grow our club and improve facilities for all.

In the Summer of 2009 the Club have undertaken a major development of new pitches & facilities at Crosschapel & we expect to have all our 11 a-side teams (juvenile + senior) playing there at the beginning of next season. The photo (right) shows the sprinkler system at work on the new pitches.

As you can appreciate it is very challenging (not to mention expensive) to keep a club of this size functioning correctly. We would like to thank all our sponsors, advertisers and especially all the parents who continue to help us keep our young people busy and active through sport, which is more relevant now in this era of increasing negative temptations. It also cannot be overstated the positive impact the involvement in team sports has on the overall development of young people.
