A Brief History

This choir was founded to celebrate the Christian Millennium Year 2000 in Blessington, a rural town in County Wicklow, in the heart of The Garden of Ireland.

Its Musical Director is Yvonne O’Conor and its Accompanist is Ruarc Gahan.

The Choir has approximately forty members, male and female, who sing sacred and secular music written for Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass parts.

We sing for pleasure. We sing for charity. We sing to celebrate.

We are regularly invited to sing on special occasions in our local parish churches.

In 2008 our Christmas Concert was in aid of the BARRETTSTOWN CASTLE CAMP, founded by the actor Paul Newman to bring some fun and laughter to children from all over the world who are terminally ill. €2,500 was raised.

Our summer concert in 2009, when we celebrate the 10th anniversary of our foundation, is dedicated to the work of The SIMON COMMUNITY, a charity which looks after homeless people throughout Ireland.

We dedicate our special concert tour to Bormes Les Mimosas to Père Lopez and the beautiful Church of St Trophème for his work in bringing the Gospel of Christ to the people of Bormes, as well as to thousands of tourists annually.
