Minutes of the 22.10.09 / Matters arising
A rota for Altar servers is now up and running. G. Sheward, St Mary’s Senior School, organises the rota of children for Altar serving.
It was agreed to continue to put a notice in the Parish Newsletter quarterly with the relevant phone numbers and nearest centres for the RECOVERY Group AWARE and GROW.
The Confirmation Class of 2010 are working with great care on their scrap books. The teachers are very positive about.
The PPC expressed an interest in perhaps developing a simplified version for the First Communion class.
The possibility of running a YCWM course in Lent was discussed. It would be ideal if there were young adults available and willing to take on this project in the parish.
The PPC suggested putting this on the agenda for the November meeting.
Joanna Charles has been appointed Musical Director of the Children’s choir.

Advent /Christmas programme
The AGM of the PPC will be held on Monday 14th December, this will coincide with the parish gathering.
The outdoor carol service will take place on Sunday 20th December. There will be a planning meeting to arrange this in St. Kevins on Tuesday 17th November at 8pm.
Barbara Nolan and the youth choir will lead the singing for the carol service. It was also suggested that the Folk group could join with the youth choir for this occasion. Perhaps Marie O Brien and Declan Naughton could attend the November planning meeting.
West Wicklow Adult Religious Education Centre
The Wednesday night course is going exceptionally well. The participants come from a wide catchment area.
The PPC discussed the possibility of running a four week programme during lent-17th February to 10th March. It was decided to put this on the agenda for November meeting to make further arrangements.

Gerry read a letter from Archbishop D. Martin in relation to the Dublin report on child abuse. The publication of this has been delayed due to a court hearing. The PPC expressed concern at the outcome of this report “Spirit of God direct us on how to respond to this”.
The PPC discussed the ‘Standards and Guidance Document for the Catholic Church in Ireland’ published by Bishop E. Walsh, the PPC discussed whether the Blessington guidelines were in line with them. The child protection sub-committee agreed to review both documents to ensure conformity.
Fr Tim reported to the meeting his concern about various social issues in the community, particularly in light of the current economic climate.
Fr Tim informed the meeting that Seamus Mc Cormack, PR for the Irish Catholic would like to address the PPC. It was decided that he could do so at the next meeting and could include the neighbouring PPC as they were to be invited the same evening.
Fr Tim informed the meeting that the annual Mass for the bereaved would take place on Monday 2nd November. The Eadestown choir and the Folk group were coming together to provide music for this special Mass.
It was decided to invite Eadestown PPC, Kilbride PPC and Valleymount PPC to a gathering on Thursday 19th at 9pm; the PPC would meet first at 8pm.
Teresa reported to the PPC that the Community College had developed a new programme for Faith Friends.
The students were also working on a new project on an awareness of Elderly issues. After Christmas they intend working with the Day Care centre.
Fr Tim informed the PPC that a new painting by T.O’Donnell would be unveiled in the Church the following weekend. |
