Illegal Dumping of Domestic Rubbish
Blessington and District Forum has been in touch with Wicklow County Council and Kildare County Council about the problem of illegal dumping of domestic rubbish at various locations around the area including the entrance to Glending Forest Walk. Both Councils have Litter Wardens on duty throughout the area and when they find identification details prosecutions will follow. Residents should have pride in their area and offenders should desist from this unpleasant and illegal practice.

Other Forums
Baltinglass and Dunlavin areas now have their own District Forums and representatives from these bodies attended a recent meeting of Blessington and District Forum to observe how the local Forum operate. It is hoped that these bodies can cooperate on broader West Wicklow matters in the future.

Wicklow County Council
Wicklow County Council has agreed to meet a deputation from the Blessington Forum in March. In addition to passing on thanks for their work on behalf of our Community to-date the Forum members will be bring to the County Councillors' attention various items that have been raised over the past year and which are still outstanding.

Tourism in our Area
Recently there was a great attendance in Avon Ri at a meeting where Wicklow County Tourism outlined the work they are doing and will be doing in the future to promote Tourism in the County and particularly in West Wicklow. Many members of the Forum attended this meeting as well as other people involved directly in Tourism. Wicklow County Tourism website is www.visitwicklow.ie.
